History

Kendall Delaney was born in Cool, California. Her father was a carpenter, her mother was a priest in the local Unitarian Universalist church in nearby Auburn. Kendall was a short thing, barely five feet tall, with a cheerleader's good looks - striking blonde hair, green eyes. She wasn't very popular in school, and barely had any friends. She didn't have many extracurriculars except for volunteering in her mother's church.

Still, her grades were good enough to get her into Paragon City University - or perhaps it was the fact that her mother was an alumna. She wasn't really interested in any particular field of study - it was just something you DID. Her major was 'undecided.' The Rikti invaded in May, during the Spring of her fourth semester.

Meanwhile, Allister Kirsch was born in 1978, in New Zealand. His mother was a doctor, his father a lawyer.

As a child, Allister ('Al') was a precocious child with a lot of potential, and wound up starting university a few years early. Once graduating with a degree in biochemistry. After, he joined Paragon City University's premiere medical school. He worked as a tutor to make ends meet.

The Rikti invaded during his first year in Paragon City.

During her second year, Kendall's parents were killed by a drunk driver over Thanksgiving. Kendall was the only survivor.

Defiant

The next month, after the accident, she took all her finals, then came back home, dropping out instead of continuing. One of her friends, a Lindsay Titus, managed to convince her to stay home. Eventually she applied to Sacramento State (where Lindsay was going). While Lindsay tried to convince her to go after a Teaching degree with her, Kendall decided to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice.

As of now she's a member of the Paragon City Police, doing Forensic Investigation.

As for Allister?

He was alone when the Rikti attacked. When the building collapsed, he wound up being dosed with an experimental drug he was working on. It was supposed to control minds... it just left him in a blank mental state. Harshly addictive (not part of his design), the withdrawal nearly killed him (an empty mind is not easily conducive to laboratory work).

But it left him in a strange condition - parts of his mind were unlocked.

It was a war zone out there. And Allister had always thought of himself as a good guy. So he decided to try this newfound power to help people. When the Rikti finally left, he filed as a hero - "Alley Star."

Liberty

The next month, after the accident, she took all her finals, and started her next semester - the Spring of 2002.

Figuring she'd round out her general education requirements with some laboratory science credits, Kendall was taking chemistry the semester the Rikti invaded. Allister was her tutor.

It was the day after finals week at Paragon City University when the first red light appeared in the sky, and after that her story, like a lot of others, simply goes blank.

She was going over her chemistry final with Allister that day. It was then that the student apartments collapsed on them both.

Allister had been working on a "mind control" drug in his apartment. Perhaps Kendall's first exposure to the drug was inadvertent. Perhaps.

Unfortunately for Kendall, the drug in question was addictive. And deadly so. Withdrawal would bring her closer to death. Allister found himself forced to make more doses, just to help her survive. And each time he gave her some, he gained a taste for her submission, and the control he had over her. It ate away at his soul like acid on his mind.

Eventually, running out of supplies, he was forced to start looting, and turned to crime. Nothing 'heavy' just mostly burglary and larceny. While stealing from a pharmacy, he was taken down by an upstart hero named Veneer, and send to the Ziggurat.

They discovered Kendall then - but she was out of her mind. The only things she could think about were service to her Master, and the need for the Drug. She could not wear clothes - the drug had given her a skin condition that made her react poorly to any touch of fabric. It also managed to increase the size of her breasts.

The authorities couldn't even figure out her name, so she became Jane Doe. She was shipped off to a privately-run asylum, a charity courtesy of Crey Industries.

The Crey staff managed to alter the villain's formula enough to allow their Jane Doe to think for herself again - but there were side effects. The compound - the drug - was not only psychoactive, but physiomorphic, and the more it they changed it to free her mind, the more it changed her body. Her skin grew darker, her legs longer, her breasts even bigger. She developed strange growths on her body, like she was suddenly a coral reef. They never were able to reverse the skin condition - she was forced to remain naked.

Even with some of the clouds broken in her mind, Kendall was unable to remember more than tiny snippets of her past, and she was almost incapable of more than the simplest actions. The more aware she became, the more depressed she got - losing faith in the world, in herself, in those trying to help her. She buried herself in studies, eventually focusing on the alternative, natural sciences of the far East - their tantras and reikis and chakras and chi. They gave her a discipline she'd otherwise lacked. Her mind grew stronger, her heart more confident.

One day, her third eye opened; and she grew a tail (all things in balance, she says). In one moment, Kendall transcended her limitations. The addiction was broken, and her past came flooding back, and everything turned on its head. Where she was the controlled, she now became the controller. Where she was the victim, she vowed to become the savior. In that moment, she chose a new name for herself - Kundalini. She was let out of the asylum within a month, and signed up for her Hero license soon after.

Those meeting Kundalini for the first time are most likely to describe her as cold, distant, perhaps even frigid. Of course, a certain amount of that can be attributed to her intimidating presence - over 7 feet of tall, ashen-skinned woman with legs up to here (and breasts out to THERE), and a skin condition that often leaves her starkly nude. Speaking to her, she sometimes has a way of saying the oddest things - things that just waft their way into her mind, a side-effect of her psychic abilities. This only adds to the otherworldly air that surrounds her.

Aside from her paltry hero stipend, she's been living off the money in the savings account Kendall opened when she sold her parents house and the stuff inside it. Of course, that money's not going to last forever.

There are things about her everyone knows: She's got the ability to control minds - with just a glance she can induce paralying headaches, peaceful hypnotic sleeps or abject terror, and just a wave of her hands lets her confuse villains, encouraging them to do what they do best - turn on each other. In addition, she can cloud minds, making it difficult to look at her directly. Like many with her abilities, telepathy and telekinesis go hand in hand - this allows her to leap buildings in a single bound, hurl enemies in the air or push them backwards, and even weaken them to improve herself, or the people around her. Besides that, almost everyone knows she's dating Serge, one of the Icon fashion designers, and a well-known playboy.

As for Allister?

Still in the Zig, Allister got word of Kundalini's "awakening" and put two-and-two together. He wanted that kind of power, and he knew that she could owe her abilities to his concoction. He ran the formula for his drug over and over again in his head, and cracked the code.

He had the right connections, so he pulled some strings to get the ingredients he needed, and some items that could work as makeshift equipment. He'd already gotten enough trust to access the infirmary.

After creating his mixture, he bit his lip, rolled up his sleeve, and stuck the needle in his arm. Immediately, he was wracked with pain. He fell over, blacking out. When he woke up, his skin was grey, and all his hair had fallen out (it has since grown back - but green!?). But it worked: he had unlocked, or created, psychic potential in himself.

Unfortunately, he never managed to get rid of that pesky fatal addiction. So he has to continually feed himself maintenance doses, not only to stay alive, but to keep the rush the power gives him. Also, his potential isn't as varied as that of Kundalini, as she is tapping Eastern science as well as Western science. He has discovered psychic powers, but not the dynamic changes that Kundalini can cause.

Pretty soon after that, a powerful group of villains broke into the prison. He escaped in the chaos. Since then, he's been on the run, using the moniker "Alley Star."

Pinnacle

The next month, after the accident, she took all her finals, then came back home, dropping out instead of continuing. One of her friends, a Lindsay Titus, managed to convince her to stay home. Eventually she applied to Sacramento State (where Lindsay was going).

One of the paramedics that tended to her after the accident was named Sean Westerly. They started dating after the accident. When she applied to go to Sacramento state, he thought Nursing would be a good choice for her, but Lindsay made a better argument for Education, and so Kendall decided to go that way (though she completed a pre-med course and got her nursing certification as well).

Sean eventually abruptly moved to Paragon City. Kendall didn't follow him.

Nonetheless, Kendall is now back in Paragon City, living in Kings Row, teaching there as a part of Teach for America (and acting unofficially as the school nurse). She and Sean are still friends; their break up was more amicable than acrimonious.

She's met a new guy - an older man, Vernon. It's weird that he has a kid almost her age. Still, she thinks she might be able to change him, and encourage him to settle down.

As for Allister?

He had another student with him as the Rikti attacked - Barbara Gates. Barbara was almost the total opposite of Kendall - outgoing, friendly, ambitious. She knew how to use her looks to get what she wanted.

Unfortunately, Barbara had a fatal reaction to his "mind control" experimental drug when she was accidentally dosed as the building fell around them. Drug allergies. Although it wasn't exactly his fault - aliens had attacked, and he hadn't really dosed her, Allister still blamed himself.

However, there was still a war going on outside; there was no time for guilt. Survival became key - and once Allister figured there was one dead body on his conscience, it became easier to consider more.

Now? Allister lives a life of crime. They call him 'The Doctor'. He manufactures Rage and Superadine and is even working on another variation of the blend that killed Barbara, hoping it'll become the next designer drug. He even has a working name for it - 'the Alley Star.'

Virtue

Eventually, running out of supplies, he was forced to start looting, and turned to crime. Nothing 'heavy' just mostly burglary and larceny. One day, he was caught stealing food stuffs by Nethercry, and managed to plead his case before a judge. The judge took leniency on him, and allowed him to join the Peace Corps (with Kendall, who he married, so she could accompany him). After the Peace Corps, Allister returned to PCU and finished his medical degree, graduating in 2008.

He remains in practice in Steel Canyon, still living with a servile Kendall. He still hasn't cracked the addiction, and sometimes he wonders why he's still trying; he's not above corruption. Now, he is a celebrated doctor, his most recent claim to fame is the reconstruction of Fission Storm.
