- Teller
- The road west has well-worn ruts from many wagons.
* Prodigal stoops rolls around in the dust, making sure to get plenty of dirt in his hair. He then starts walking west.
- Teller
- Prodigal spies the smoke from a nearby town after about two hours walk. It's a warm day.
* Prodigal walks into the town, and if unmolested, seeks out whatever looks like a marketplace or public forum.
- Teller
- The town is medium sized. People give Prodigal stares, but no-one approaches. There is a small market square.
* Prodigal looks around for anyone who might look like authorities... soldiers, police, etc... and makes sure that what he does next is in full view.
- Teller
- Prodigal sees a couple of men, armed, with an air of authority about them.
* Prodigal walks out in full view and suddenly throws his arms in the air and shouts...
- Prodigal
- "Dooooom!"
"Famine! Drought! I have seen it!"
* Prodigal spins around, aiming a finger one by one at the folk in the square.
- Prodigal
- "Moonless has brought this on all of you!"
* Prodigal puts his hands down in the dust and lets it run through his fingers. "The worms brought me the word! Not a drop of rain shall fall as long as Moonless reigns!"
- Teller
- People start staring. Most move away, giving Prodigal a wide berth.
- Prodigal
- "Siiiiinnn!"
"Corruption!"
"LUST!"
"He has let his LOINS master him!"
- Teller
- Now the two constable types are walking toward you. You see them split up, likely planning to come at you from opposite sides. Neither looks about to draw a weapon.
* Prodigal turns towards one of them and shrieks (think Bob Goldthwaite). "You like the taste of dust? Learn it! The worms told me!"
- Teller
- They ease forward. The one Prodigal faces says, "Steady on, traveller. You're causing some folks upset wi' your nonsense." He's trying to sound soothing.
- Prodigal
- "It's not nonsense! Consult your own soothsayers! They know!"
* Prodigal points to a village woman at random. "She has the sight! She knows!"
- Teller
- The woman shrieks and turns, rushing away.
- Prodigal
- "See!"
- Prodigal
- "Even now she flees the doom which descends upon you!"
- Teller
- "She's fleeing *you*, you great idiot." The constables approach, timing it to get there at the same time.
* Prodigal allows himself to be "captured". "Yes! Idiot! The scholars and priests, they do not listen to the worms! But when the drought comes, they will have to!"
- Teller
- The two men 'subdue' prodigal rather gently. "Come along, traveller. Sounds like ye've had too much drink." They start to lead him away.
- Prodigal
- "Drink! AHAHAHAHHAAAA!"
"Enjoy it now!"
- Teller
- They lead you to the local jailhouse, a small one-story affair. If you don't resist too much, they escort you into a cell.
- Prodigal
- Prodigal allows himself to be shut into a cell. He doesn't resist, that would result in things like leg irons, that he doesn't want.
